Family stress or conflict related to an eating disorder (e.g. supporting parents, understanding symptoms, navigating mealtimes, etc.)
Using cognitive-behavioral and systemic approaches, sessions focus on:
Understanding unhelpful interactional patterns
Improving communication and emotional responsiveness
Building practical tools families can use between sessions
Strengthening flexibility, cooperation, and connection
Supporting each family member’s needs in a balanced way
Clinical supervision and brief case consultation are available for early-career psychologists and other mental health professionals seeking support with complex cases, ethical decision-making, and professional growth, as well as for those working with clients experiencing eating disorders or body image concerns. Drawing on her experience in private practice, teaching, and supervision, Dr. Smith provides a reflective, theoretically integrative space. Sessions are available in person in Acton or via telehealth.
Dr. Smith is passionate about providing engaging, evidence-based talks on a wide range of topics, including eating disorders, body image, insomnia, trauma, workplace wellness, and general mental health. Dr. Smith offers both in-person and telehealth (video conference) services. For in-person therapy sessions, Dr. Smith's office is located in Acton, MA. Photographed below are the peaceful therapy office and waiting room.
Note that for telehealth sessions, clients must be physically in the state of Massachusetts at the time of service per state licensing requirements. Telehealth sessions are conducted via a HIPAA secure video platform accessible via a computer or mobile device.
